Another year...another trip

We took our annual trip up to Fort Mountain today for our family picnic. The weather was beautiful and the kids had a blast climbing all over the playground and going on a nature walk. What a nice day.

Moving for a Cure

Twenty years on September 15--four days before my 10th birthday; I remember it like it was yesterday; my grandfather, Henry Lee Rogers...better known as Hoss, lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Every year, for the past ten years, my family raises and donates money to this cause and we all join in on 'the walk.' This year was the 20th anniversary of my grandfather's death and it was special to my grandmother for us all to be there (those who could make it)--in all we had 30 people (only missing 6)! What a sight all 30 of us sporting our new shirts with Papaw's face on them--believe me, we didn't go unrecognized!

Going 'balling'

We had girls night out with the kids this weekend. All the guys were out of town or working...so we took them all bowling.

A day for ME

Friday the 19th...My 30th birthday! It was a loooong and eventful day and weekend. It all started with Kelly and the kids surprising me with breakfast from good ole' Waffle House at 6 AM, then to work with surprise deliveries, lunch and angel food cake with coworkers, a shopping spree and car-clean up trip with Mom, to a late dinner and drinks with friends! Whew...and that was just one day!

Saturday was even more eventful; it started with a ball game with the kids, and then off to Chattanooga. Little did I know that my wonderful husband, mom, sister, and best friend had a little something up their sleeve. To throw me off, Kelly took me to Chattanooga for a day of eating, shopping, football watching, and a walk along the river-front. It was so much fun...all I wanted to do was to go home and hit the bed early! Not this weekend. After little convincing I agreed to dinner at the Dalton Depot with Jessica and Brent. We arrived to a huge surprise party and a room filled with all my closest friends and family!

Everyone put so much work in to this day for me; from Donna distracting me with the kids and getting them to a sitter, Heidi sending invites and trying her hardest to get me a sugar-free birthday cake, Jessica helping with a babysitter from the daycare to conspiring with Kelly to get me out of the house Saturday night, my mom who worked so hard on a beautiful wall of photo collages of me from birth to age 30 (with many embarrassing pictures--thanks mom :), to Kelly who footed all the leg work and the distress of keeping this huge secret from his curious wife to dodging phone calls from concerned party-goers all day on Saturday (I wondered why you left the room every time you would answer your phone) and for running me all over town on Saturday just to keep me distracted!

Thanks to all who made this such a wonderful 30th birthday. I wish I could take the time to reflect on 30 years of life, but i don't really know if I have all the words to express it. I am grateful for such a wonderful family and group of friends. I am truly blessed in this life and love you all very much! Thanks again to Kelly, my mom, Heidi, Donna and Jessica...you all mean the world to me!

Here are some pictures from the weekend:

My flowers and balloons that Heidi and Jessica sent me while at work!

My new co-workers took me to Los Reyes for a late lunch and a little local flare...

Ganny took me and the kids shopping and a trip to the car wash--here are the kids sitting on a 4-wheeler that was being auctioned off.

Out with the girls for dinner at Los Reyes...again

My SURPRISE party...what fun!

An end to a long day and a wonderful birthday!

Getting his mohawk

After

After months of letting his blond, shaggy hair grow and grow and after many encouraging words like, 'when are you going to cut that boys hair?' I finally and reluctantly took the plunge. Hank was ready too, he wanted spiky hair and a mohawk. At least now we can see that sweet little face a lot more clearer!
