Hank and I had so much fun Friday afternoon--that our whole clan headed back on Saturday night...what a fun way to spend a rainy Saturday evening!

Banana Nut Bread

The kids and I made banana nut bread, with some spoiling bananas I had, on Friday night. What fun!
They both helped, including Kelly, who accidentally dumped my first whole bowl of flour all over the kitchen floor (thanks, hun!).
I even place a handful of chocolate chips in one batch for the kiddos...Y.U.M.M.Y!

Hank playing the guitar with a left-over banana!

This was the first time I have ever made banana bread...looks like it might become a new specialty :)

Hankie-Time

I had an afternoon with my Hankie-boy! He is such a sweet, sweet, soul! MMM. I could just eat him up!!

I love you my baby boy!! You are such a great "bawler!"

The Principal's Office

There is a first time for everything; and even though this first is earlier than I wanted it-we are handling it. As you may have read in my previous posts-we often have problems with Eden in school. We receive notices informing us of Eden talking out of turn, being disruptive, and not completing her work on time. Her teacher and I are in communication with each other, but her teacher puts it off as no big deal. Well, Kelly and I think it is a huge deal! Not only is she misbehaving at school, she is also acting out at home. At home she is a typical girl (what I believe to be typical); stomping up the stairs, slamming doors, rolling her eyes, talking back, screams at her brother (poor boy--she doesn't realize that one day he will be bigger than her-right Kelly?), and often even pushed and hits him if she is angry for any reason at all.
Well, today her teacher apparently had enough. Eden was given 8 chances-E.I.G.H.T, yes that many! She still didn't get it. We really do not know what we are going to do with her. It is a clear blessing that I am working in the field that I am--I have so many expertise to get advice from: I have access to a teacher (that I work with daily) with a masters in Special Education, my boss has been in the field for over 30 years, a child psychologist (who gave several tips today), and many other teachers who are highly qualified. I have learned many things: Eden is special; she needs consistency, she is highly intelligent, very creative, bores easily, everyone loves to be around, is the class clown, etc. I could go on and on, but what mother couldn't!? I love my daughter-more than life itself. It is very hard to sit and see her develop and have no control over her personality--she is who she is and I am proud. I am hoping to help nurture this little personality and help it form in to one that while in a setting (such as a classroom) she needs to conform to the rules, but on her own-be a frees-spirit and follow her heart and mind. It is quite difficult to parent a child like her.
So now, here we are searching books online; How to Tame the Spirited Child and The Strong Willed Child--whew, there are so many materials. I know Eden is a child of God first and foremost and he has blessed Kelly and I with her for a reason (if you know us, this is the complete opposite of us both), and we are loving every minute of it. I am looking to get her in to activities to let her imagination run wild; such as auditioning for an upcoming play here in town and getting her in to acting classes (something she has asked to do). As always, we will definitely continue with dance and gym.
Principals office. Good or bad? I guess a little of both. A blessing-because now we can realize the problem and find a solution. Bad-Eden was the first in her whole class to be sent to the Principal's office ALL YEAR! That is a hard pill to swallow for us. Eden asked me "Mom, were you ever sent to the Principal's office?" "Yes Eden, once in 5th grade and once in the 11th grade-and I cried my eyes out both times." She couldn't believe that that was all. "That's all mommy?" "Yes, Eden. That's all."

I pray for my babies daily and I thank God constantly for the two he has blessed me with. I know we have our precious Edibug for a reason. And I enjoy every day that I am continually faced with the challenges of parenthood...I wouldn't trade it for the world. So I ask you all, my faithful readers, to pray for my babies as well...for Eden, may we have the best suited solutions for her spirited little soul! God knows--we just have to keep seeking Him!
Please stay tuned for future updates on little Eden and this new adventure we have bestowed upon...
:)
I am hoping this is an eye-opener for our precious little baby, only six years old. She still has so many years to go. School is a long road to travel, and this is just a stepping stone. For sure we will be watching behaviors more and being more strict and concerned with her ways and what is going on at school other than academics.

What an eye-opener for us ALL!

Game 1

Eden had her first game as a Pleasant Grove Knockout tonight! She did really good, as well as the whole team. Eden's team consists of mainly 6 and 7 year old with one 8 year old; so they are a really young team. For most this is their first year. Eden has already improved from last year with her attention span in the outfield. She did have a problem with playing with her glove and chewing on it, but she stopped every ball that came her way!! She did so good. We are very proud considering Eden has not been as interested this year. Hopefully tonight's game got her more excited about her season!

Great Job Edibug!

Hank being goofy in the bleachers cheering on big sis with his blue Gatorade and dirt face!

Up to bat. Her first at bat she struck out :(

Her next two where hits. The first hit was a single and the second was as double. She scored one run.

Getting a pat on the helmet from Coach Dad.

Scoring her run. Safe!

Good sports. Final score- Pleasant Grove-8, Dawnville-15. One loss in the books.

Best teammate and friend, Lexie!

Spring is in the Air

Combine 70 degree weather with two Summer-anxious kids and you get backyard-sprinkler time! What a day it was...I actually had to apply sunscreen. We had a wonderful Spring day--playing outside, grilling, and even getting wet! Looking forward to many more to come!

Little League

Smiling Baby

We had the Baldridge's over Saturday night for an evening of grilling and March Madness. Here is Kye hamming it up for Eden and Hank. He loved giggling at them...and they just adored making him laugh. He is getting so big, so fast!

What a cutie!

Sucked Back In...

So I have already watched the movie twice and it only came out yesterday. Still, after seeing it now three times, I am disappointed. The book is sooo much better. I think I am going to re-read the series all over again! I absolutely love the book and encourage any and all to read it...prior to watching the movie!
Anyway-I do enjoy watching Edward float across my screen...I just wish we could erase Bella (Kristin Stewart)-I think she is an awful actress in this movie. She is trying too hard to be Bella. This is just my opinion-we are all allowed to one. :)

Making Friends

The kids and I had an afternoon at the park today. It was such a beautiful day. Hank and I spent most of our time on the track (me walking, him riding his bike). Eden happened to meet up with her friend, Nono, from school (yes like no no). They had a lot of fun playing together. Nono was accompanied by her family which consisted of little sister and two cousins, with mom and aunt in tow. Come to find out, Nono is the only one who spoke mostly English. It was so cute to watch them all play together. Hank introduced the boys to Spiderman and the Ironman (action figures he had in his backpack). I asked Hank if the boys were speaking like him he said "no, Spanish." It was too cute. Actually they were speaking Chinese. I am so happy to know that my children adapt so easily to those around them and are the least prejudiced to those that don't speak their language. I feel like, as a mom, I have done at least one thing right:).

Reubens and Lime Floats

This is really the first year that the kids had questioned why we had gone to "the beach" without them. They have in their little minds that we were actually on a beach vacation like the ones we take every summer...poor babies.
So after a long and exhausting weekend of celebrating with Kelly-I decided to throw the kids a little St. Patrick's Day party/dinner at home. I made chocolate chip cookies with homemade green cream cheese icing, lime sherbet floats, and of course (my favorite) classic reuben sandwiches. I had to kind of trick them with the sandwich and tell them it had a secret and special sauce (Thousand Island dressing) on it...Hank ate two of them--he loved it! They also really enjoyed their sherbet floats.
Happy St. Patty's Day my babies...look out for Leprechauns!

Babysitting

We had our first hand at keeping baby Kye this week. He was really good till it was dinner time...2 oz of pumped milk in a bottle did not satisfy this boy! After a while of trying to calm him both E and H say "we changed our mind-we don't want another baby." Haha, too funny. Then Eden adds "well, I said I wanted a baby girl not a boy." Like that would make a difference.

FInally...#6

Eden has been hanging on to this tooth for weeks...literally. She fought us tooth and nail (literally again) about keeping this tooth. She held on to it so long that the new tooth came in behind it weeks ago. So, tonight during her first softball practice it fell out on the field. She was so excited and is looking forward to her visit from the Tooth Fairy tonight.
I don't have a picture...first of all I wasn't at her practice (her daddy was) and second of all since the other adult tooth had already came in-you couldn't tell it was missing.
Oh well, Congrats baby girl on #6!!

Gut Wrenching. Second Round.

WOW! What a night and what a game. Talking about HIGH emotions...not just the players on both teams-but the whole gym! Everyone and their brother came out to watch the NW Lady Bruins play tonight. The place was packed. I never thought I could get so pumped and so excited about a team that I am not playing for. Believe me...I wanted to be playing! It was so much fun to watch and to be a part of. The opponent-Mays High School, from Atlanta came ready to play. From the first possession this team seamed to want this win just as much as us...if not more. Our girls at first seemed very intimidated and nervous. But after we scored on the first play and followed by a three-pointer, we were in this game and not giving up without a fight!
All I had to capture the moment was my camera phone and I took a shot of the final score.
The girls play again in Carrolton GA at West Georgia College on Friday. Kell and I have talked about going but the girls start at 4:00--it would be very hard to make it in time. So we have opted to listen to it on the radio. I will keep you updated.
Check out the local paper write-up on the game here.
